Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre Tickets and Seating
A part of the Orlando Centroplex, the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre holds 2,518 Wicked the Musical fanatics. This will also be a sort of last hurrah for the center. The Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre will be replaced in 2012 by the Dr. P. Phillips Olrando Performing Arts Center in downtown Orlando.
The Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre has had an impressive run though. It opened in 1926 as the Orlando Municipal Auditorium. It operated as the cultural center for Central Florida for half a century before city funds were dispensed to modernize the interior. The exterior remained intact and the building took the mayor’s name, becoming the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre.
The venue plays an integral part in Orlando’s performing arts culture. The Orlando Philharmonic, Florida Youth Orchestra, and many opera companies put on major productions every year.
After the new performing arts center is built, it is unclear the role the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre will play. The building may be demolished or could be used as a secondary structure, expanding the options in Orlando from one venue to two.
